Accra New Town Sallahfest Celebrates 15 Years of Faith, Culture, Youth Empowerment & Community Impact.
The Accra New Town Sallahfest established to mark the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan returns in 2026 for its historic 15th Anniversary. Over the years, it has evolved from an Eid gathering into a major community development platform advancing unity, dignity and opportunity across Zongo communities.
For the milestone edition, the celebration has been structured into 9 powerful social interventions designed to deliver measurable impact: 14-Day AI Digital Skills Training & Mentorship, General Health Screening, Free NHIS Registration, Two Surgical Interventions, Food Bazaar, Children’s Fun Fair, Grand Durbar of Chiefs, Cultural Night and Street Carnival.
Below are the activities in detail:
14-Day AI Digital Skills Training & Mentorship
Date: March 2 – March 19, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm daily
Venue: School of Caterine, Abavana near Mamobi General Hospital
The festival opens with a free Artificial Intelligence Digital Training Programme for 400 youth from Accra New Town, Mamobi, Kotobabi, Alajo, Nima and surrounding communities.
Participants will receive practical training in:
ChatGPT – Content Creation
WIX – Website Design & Hosting
Canva – Graphic Design & Branding
CapCut – Video Editing & Digital Storytelling
Graduates will receive certification and structured mentorship into freelance and remote work pathways, enabling them to earn independently in the digital economy. The initiative, introduced by Hon. Yussif Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, directly tackles youth unemployment by transforming young people into creators and innovators.
Main Humanitarian Intervention Day
Date: Day After Eid-ul-Fitr | 9:00am – 3:00pm
Venue: Accra New Town Old Shell Fuel Station (Texaco)
Activities: General Health Screening, Free NHIS Registration & Food Bazaar – Feeding with Dignity
Residents of Ayawaso North, Central and East will receive preventive health checks and immediate National Health Insurance enrollment; removing financial barriers to healthcare and promoting early detection of disease. A community feeding initiative ensuring vulnerable families celebrate Eid with respect and inclusion.
Two Life-Changing Surgical Interventions
Venue: Ghanuba Specialist Hospital, Accra New Town off Caprice Road
Two individuals requiring urgent surgery but lacking financial means will receive fully funded operations; restoring health, productivity and hope.
Children, Culture & Community Celebration
Activity: Children’s Fun Fair
Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm | Wembley Sports Complex
A safe recreational environment providing free games and family bonding during the festive period.
Grand Durbar of Chiefs
3:30pm – 5:30pm | Kotobabi Swag Park
A ceremonial procession of Chiefs reaffirming unity and traditional authority – the stabilizing structure of Zongo communal life.
Cultural Night
6:00pm – 9:30pm
An open-air dinner and heritage showcase celebrating Ghana’s diverse cultures with dignitaries and partner recognitions.
Street Carnival
11:00pm – 5:00am
An all-night performance platform for emerging musicians and headline artistes, supporting youth creativity and the creative economy.
